What are you playing this week?

Basically nothing but Overwatch. Love that damn game, although my comp score has been steadily falling for the past month. Welp.

Granblue Fantasy and Factorio. Got ridiculously lucky on a free daily roll and got Narmaya, so now I get to grind her up and get used to her skillset.

World of Warcraft, a bit of ESO, Hearthstone when I can at work, and a game that shall have to remain shrouded in mystery because I’m LPing it and I’m a big secretive goober like that.

ESO is quite something.

ESO is a fun one.

Oh, I’ve also beaten Steamworld Heist after getting it in my Humble Monthly. Very solid game, lasted me about 13 hours on normal. Think X-Com, but with nicer hats.

That’s just XCOM 2 though.

This week I’ve been playing lots of Fire Emblem Heroes and Shadowverse. I’ve had more fun with them than I expected.

Been playing a looooot of Dark Souls recently. Found out I actually like the game, so there’s that.

I also got Nioh, but I haven’t gotten too far in it yet.

Just played some Rocket League for the first time in a minute with @Bearpigman and our friend Ray in our weekly stream. We rightfully got our asses kicked most games.

Randomly decided to start playing a bit of FF Theatrhythm Curtain Call again. Such a gosh darn cute game. I played a lot of the first one but didn’t quite play as much of the sequel… working on leveling up my favorites. There’s so many FF6 characters, I could cry…

Mass Effect & Mass Effect 2 were on sale on Steam last week so I’ve been playing the former.

I never did a renegade run in it before (unlike with 2, I only played it once) and I’m starting to see that the only things that seem to separate Shepard from Saren are species, Sovereign and a penchant for sidequests.

I’m playing through Wind Waker, and once I’ve finished it ideally a few more Zeldas before Breath of the Wild comes out.

It’s so refreshing how 15 years later Wind Waker is basically as good as it ever was, great games like Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 show their age aesthetically even if they otherwise hold up, but Windwaker’s art style is timeless and everything about the game is so charming. It’s funny thinking back to the ire it originally got for being so ā€œkiddyā€ looking when that’s precisely why it stands up so well now while both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess look hideous.

I’ve been having a blast playing through RE7 for the past couple weeks. I played it on Normal the first two times and on Easy the next three times getting various unlocks and trophies. I’m currently on my first attempt at Madhouse, and it’s been a doozy so far. Exciting, though!

As far as the DLC goes, I’ve tried Ethan Must Die (haven’t gotten super far, but it feels like I’m a third of the way there), Nightmare (haven’t gotten past the third hour yet - it gets NUTS), and Bedroom (a super cool Misery-esque puzzle room).

All in all, it’s an amazing game. I think it’s the first time I’ve gotten a season pass for a game, and I feel like it was (and will be) totally worth it.

the best testament to RE7 I can offer is that I beat normal mode at 3am on a friday, woke up on saturday and literally started speedrunning it, so in a 24 hour period I beat that game 3-4 times

Outside of playing Brave Fencer Musashi for LP reasons, I’ve also been playing Crowtel Renovations. It’s a cute little platformer about a crow that needs to fix up their hotel in hopes of passing a health inspection. It does have some visual issues that I hope get ironed out, but it’s not deal breaking to me. Here’s a little gameplay sample:

I saw Crowtel at AGDQ this year, and it looked pretty interesting! (that actually reminds me to go back and examine those runs for unique unknown games to stream)

Also I saw a bit of your Musashi LP, good stuff!

I’ve finally gotten around to playing some Mother 3. I love games like Undertale that take influence, and it’s been a pretty fun ride so far! Can’t wait to finish this one up!

Mostly what I play is for LP purposes, but this week I had / have Read Only Memories, Fire Emblem Heroes, Pokemon Moon, aaaand maybe Mario & Luigi Dream Team - if I can get myself back onto it to finish the game.

I’ve been playing Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 lately which are both really great. Witcher 3 is especially incredible. I’m 20 hours in and have yet to find anything big to complain about.

MGS4 is a strange one for me. It’s got some pretty high highs, but also some detestably low lows. My feelings about it waffle quite a bit, but ultimately I have to be a bit down on it overall for how lackluster the game is for much of it. Also, Naomi.

Witcher 3, on the other hand, is undoubtedly amazing. It’s going to be hard to play any western fantasy RPG after that without being disappointed (cough Dragon Age: Inquisition cough). If you’re ever considering getting/playing the expansions, please do so. Heart of Stone is especially fantastic as a story, possibly more so than the main game’s narrative.
