Let's Play Every Mario Party and Not Get A Divorce [Current - Mario Party 6]

I don’t know if I can really do that. We did state in the video itself how things played out. Even if it was by the seat of our pants.

I hope everyone enjoyed this board back in story mode. Because it’s back again, and it’s still not really as fun. The coloured boo mechanics would be fine if there was more than one spot for them. And once the bridges are gone it can take forever to get them back simply because it’s hard to get around the board. And why would you want to be the one to take the detour to bring them back if it means missing an opportunity for the star?

Time to vote. And also, we have a special treat for all this mid week as well.

Hoo boy, this is a close one. I’m going with Michael on this one. I was gonna go with Calli, but if the bonus star distribution is disrupted in any way it’ll probably be to MIchael’s favor. And I think he’s close enough where he’s still got a shot at the minigame and coin star.

I’m going with Calli given Michael’s sudden string of bad luck on this board.

Halfway through the voting week. Technically speaking it’s still anyone’s game. There’s a bit of a bonus coming out tomorrow though, so watch out for that.

I’m going to pick Calli this time.

The reason Yoshi is being an idiot is obviously because he’s scared and doesn’t normally go into the ghost houses.

Looks like Michael and Calli will both approach the star at about the same time, unless Michael gets some bad rolls. If Michael gets the star first and then hits the Boo House first, he’d likely take Peach’s star, and then Calli would take Michael’s star. With how many turns it would take to get over there I could see Calli just barely overtaking Michael’s coin count, but losing the minigame star in the end. I also suspect Yoshi will wind up near the next star and nab it, putting the next next star near Michael again, but he’ll have spent all his coins and so he has to take a pass on it, leaving Calli to pick it up.

All in all I get the feeling Michael will just barely have more coins than Calli, but Calli will sneak by with one extra star.

We kept alluding to what had happened the previous night in the first part of Boo’s Haunted Bash. Well, now it’s time to see. If you’ve ever wondered what Big Boo does, we’ve learned his true power.

I think Yoshi’s got a good shot here.

And now we are finished with Boo’s Haunted Bash. I’m interested in everyone else’s opinions on it, because I think Calli and I are unanimous on it just not being good. We’re getting close to the end everyone! Not much game left.

Speaking as an outside observer and someone who has never played a Mario Party game, the only thing really bad about Boo’s board is the fact that there are so many dead ends once the bridges get taken away, and the game likes to put stars there. The rest of the board just seemed fairly boring.

Michael probably thought he got more coins in minigames because of the battle games, which aren’t counted in Mario Party 4 for the minigame star.

Also the reason Yoshi got many coins for his double 7s the first time is because they were 7s.

Also also I forgot to mention while you were still playing this one that if you never stop running around in circles in Makin’ Waves you pretty much can’t lose as the solo player.

Also (also) also there’s no Last Five Turns event that changes spaces into happening spaces, it changes them to Fortune spaces.

Boo’s Boo-tiful Bonanza Bis Ba Bad Board, B. It takes the ghost houses from Mario World and tries to apply the same confusing structure to a board game. Too much of the board pushes players to the left. Trying to run through the middle of the board puts the board in a state that cuts off all of the players’ options except for “ride the ghost train” or “use a mega mushroom”. Happening spaces barely exist and don’t do anything fun, or they actually end the game. Ghost Train only has one useful track 90% of the time, which happens to be right past the Boo House, meaning it’s really hard to stockpile coins. Mini gates are even harder to get through than normal because if the bridges are out you can barely reach any of them at all. A bunch of stars get locked up at certain parts of the map and have to be collected with lamps, so if you’re in first place you basically have to just run around the board and wait for someone else to move the star. Almost everything unique about the board makes one or multiple people playing grunt in annoyance, which is a really bad thing to be a fact about a sixth of your game.

Let’s go from a bad board to a pretty good board. For some reason, I don’t get upset at this board’s gimmick for moving you around against your will. Maybe it’s because it’s just pretty to look at and reminds me of Mario Sunshine?

Also, it is now time to vote. Next time it is the Mini-game modes so you only need to vote between Calli and I, Michael.

Koopa is one of the most consistent characters of the Mario Party Universe for the time he was a non-playable character as the Tom Nook of the party. He happily gave out of pocket to support the unbalanced economy at first, then he quickly swooped in to own just about every facet of that economy, running every shop and bank in town, but not willing to anger the almighty Boo.

Once the Millennium Star rode in and strong-armed Toad and Baby Bowser out of star dealing they joined forces to buy out a majority in the item shop market (they have a friendly rivalry to see who can get more business with their distinct advertising and stock lineups), leaving Koopa to only have control of the banks. He’ll lend to anybody, 'cause he knows someone’s gonna pay him back eventually.

In the aftermath of the Millennium Star Fiasco, Toad engaged in some outrageous skullduggery and took both his and Baby Bowser’s profits to build an amusement park and support his new smoking addiction, renewing the bad blood with the Bowsers, Goomba got a suspiciously lucky winning streak against Game Guy, ultimately winning the deed to Game Guy’s casino and extensively renovating it, and Game Guy returned to his home island village and prayed to the Shy Guy gods, who cursed the mainland with eternal flooding.

Koopa, ever the shrewd businessman, saw a beach that got just the worst luck with flooding, decided to invest in a resort with incredibly good insurance just a little too close to the waterline, and convinced the others to join the Party Cube project he was financing; Toad and Goomba could make a killing with nonstop business, the Shy Guys would get more offerings for their gods, and maybe Bowser might happen to find a spare key that Koopa might happen to drop along the way. He didn’t invite Boo, but Boo showed up anyway, and he still didn’t want to bring the wrath of King Boo down upon him.

It was a foolproof plan…but he could never have expected Ztar would rat him out. Thwomp and Whomp never say nothin’ but what they’re supposed to, so he felt comfortable telling them all about this ultimate racket he’d set up on their nights off at the bar. But that Ztar, always hanging around the basement, always listening in, completely sold him out, and it all came crumbling down soon after Bowser got thrashed once again.

Anyway, Calli and Michael are fairly even in minigames. If it’s a simple, four-player games, random pick, first-to-X-wins deal, I think Calli might barely have the edge.

I’m going to say Michael wins the minigame bonus round.

I’m going to vote for Michael this time. I don’t have any special explanation, I’m just guessing.

I’ll go with Calli.

It is time to go head to head in Mini-Games. The actual Mini-Game mode is rather disappointing. There isn’t even really any fanfare when you win. It certainly seems the case that the bonus mode is where they put a lot of their effort this time.
