Big Boss is about to go nuclear in METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN (and Ground Zeroes)

I haven’t looked it up, but there’s no way that medic’s voice isn’t Keifer Sutherland, and I can’t imagine that’s not relevant to some plot twist further down the line. But, like, it’s Kojima, so I don’t know where to even begin making my own theories about it??

Thanks to everyone who’s checked out and helped share Final Bid, my Glenbrook film setting has unlocked and will be part of the game when it ships! Now is the perfect time to back the game, and you can listen to me talk about some of the reasons I’m so passionate about it on the latest Chipod Ironicast

I feel like there’s moments scattered throughout V where Kojima had horror games on his mind, my favorite is how that female assassin choking you out in the introduction is exactly how Lisa grabs you in PT. Like, they just changed the model levels of exactly the same.

Her reactions are worse than the gore. The surgery itself just looks like… I dunno… unzipping a purse, wiggling fingers down the side of the tripe being stored in the purse, and then somehow extracting a bomb four times the size of Paz’s torso.

I’m gonna guess it’s 'cause they wanted a scene where a sobbing woman is horrifically violated.

It’s to establish how cruel the head of XOF is.

Yeah, this. “Let’s just linger in detail on this woman in agony. Look at her, isn’t this horrible?” It’s misery porn, and I’d wish they’d left it out.

Pretty big whiplash here going from that cutscene to a replay of the goofy-ass Peace Walker tapes

YEAh that stuff was nasty and all but I did not expect a weird porno cassette tape fifteen minutes later.

To me it seems like the game would have had more grim and grotesque scenes like Ground Zeroes has, to bring about the Metal Gear 1 and 2 crazy Big Boss, but somebody, probably Konami executives, put a stop to that. Not that I’d have liked more scenes like the emergency on-screen surgery, because it’s just a single scene, it seems out of place.

Kinda disappointed that people are still against letting games display things that happen in real-life.

Kinda happy it generates such a disgusted reaction, though.

I’ve had abdominal surgery while awake before, albeit with painkillers obviously. :V
This was honestly much less gruesome than the real thing, lol.

I’ve finally caught up and there are a lot of mixed feelings from watching Ground Zeroes just after finishing Peace Walker. The prologue of Phantom Pain was great and pretty intense, and I love the tale of 3 Snakes. And since no one objected, here’s an Awkward Zombie comic (note: the website has comics that spoil things, fair warning).

It’s always interesting playing a game after/while watching one of your LPs on it, I learn a lot of new things. I started up MGSV for the 2.5th time and just little things like knowing that light is more important than I thought for stealth have really changed my results on missions.

A bit of a smaller update today, but let’s take a little breather at Snake’s new home!

Hey, Huey, you wanna give Miller some robotic legs? Or are you hoarding them all for yourself?

Miller seems like the sort of guy to not want to replace a lost limb for the symbolism of it.

I think one of the cassettes mentions this, but yep. Miller intentionally stays limbless to remember how mad he has to be at Cipher.

So what level does your R&D team need to be to get the Nintendo Labo?

Doesn’t not-showering decrease the time reflex mode lasts or something like that?

Or did I just make that up?
