I figure this is the best time to give a clarification about something I said earlier in the thread, since I knew the PT stuff was going to come up eventually. Remember how there was a way to glitch out the very first Afghanistan mission by getting the skulls to the northern barracks instead of doing what a normal person would do and go to the RV? The glitch happens when the game world goes into Skulls-mode, but without actually having the skulls themselves because they despawn too quickly, allowing you to explore the effects of Skulls-mode more freely. When I was in the Wakh Sind Barracks during Skulls-mode, all the radio players in the base were also spouting the PT news report.
When the weather is in the mist state, all of the radio players in the world which do not have a cassette tape will play that news report clip from PT instead of the more usual track ambient gibberish. I think the PT radio is linked specifically to the mist weather effect instead of just being that one mission in that one place. It’s just that this is the only place in the game where the mist effect occurs naturally, so this is the only place people know it to always happen. (Or, this is at least my hypothesis on the subject.)
Most I saw was a rumor Kojima said it was so he could “listen to his heart” but even then it’s so vague and most likely it was overall cut when Ground Zeroes was put together to sell right away
I don’t think I saw this mission when I played the game. Forced multiplayer in ostensibly singleplayer games (e.g. invasions in Dark Souls) is a bugbear of mine, so I looked up how to disable it in MGSV.
It’s been a while, but from memory it involved blocking the game’s executable in your firewall, resulting in that multiplayer tutorial mission never popping up and that whole aspect of the game never being introduced.
I think that also stops you receiving the “Congratulations for logging into the game today! Have some free units/resources!” bonuses, but that always felt cheaty to me anyway, so I didn’t mind losing that.
Things that would make the multiplayer aspect even remotely tolerable; you can assign combat squad members to do it, and when you get invaded Big Boss just sets down where he is and you switch control to the guy doing it, and it returns you back to where you were previously once it’s done.
Wow… yep. I’m very much not regretting that I blocked MGSV in my firewall, so that I never had to be subjected to MGSV: the freemium mobile game. Holy shit.
I recently learned in a new play-through that enemy soldiers are super blind to tanks. You can be shooting at them and their friends, while moving and only like 5 meters away from them and they still won’t be able to tell where the shots are coming from.
In the latest update, I was half expecting it to end with Chip, while sneaking perfectly, being sniped in the head from the other side of the map by Gregsky.
I picked up MGSV:TPP finally because of this LP, and all the barren online stuff makes me so sad. The lasting ability of FOB’s is rly nice though.
Is there way to still play Metal Gear Online with other people?
Huey the last two robots you built were a Gundam and what can only be described as Mechagodzilla crossed with a horse and the best you can do now is a BOX?
I think Huey stumbled and spilled a bit of coffee on an unrelated document. When he saw what appeared to be “BOXHOUND” he was inspired to build the most powerful box-shaped dog-like war machine.
