Big Boss is about to go nuclear in METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN (and Ground Zeroes)

Huey is just making a giant metal mecha box, because he knows how much Big Boss loves boxes. Also may have been exposed to vapor snake, side effects include suddenly thinking galaxy brain style.

Maybe its the start of a G1 Transformer. They were pretty boxy after all.

Box-shaped robot buddy.

Since Huey is so much of a weasel, I won’t question that he’d have Diamond Dogs merch made just to try to get into everyone’s good graces.

However, since it’s not a nuke robot I do want to question how anyone agreed to make it for him.

Chip, if you don’t develop the higher level, online exclusive equipment you’ll never be able to protect your Mother Base from 30-50 Striker Hogs.

Man, I thought I was fairly thorough with this game, but I had NO IDEA about that fully charged stun arm.

I guess partially because I only forced myself to use it a couple of times, since getting into range for the regular stun is basically always close enough for CQC. And, y’know, there’s kind of a disincentive to take equipment you don’t need when GMP costs start adding up.

Notice that Vapor Snake is the only one with Rocket Fist. Notice he doesn’t use a remote control to steer it.

His fist is vape powered. Not using it as a fuel source, he’s using his godly lung capacity to blow vapor clouds to push/steer the fist.

It took me quite a while to work out the solution to this part. And wow, I didn’t have anywhere near 800 people on Mother Base - ouch. That would take ages to sort through.

Can’t believe I forgot about DD’s fulton outfit. I used that a lot; it makes it really fast to just suck up a whole bunch of guys into the sky. I guess it’s that I used it a lot when I was actually using DD. I mostly used Quiet, really.

Literally the only simulator I can tell between them is that they know a ton of languages, which is only slightly relevant due to those tape players I guess?

But that can’t be it that’s actually too stupid.

The epidemic manages to be both one of my favourite and least favourite parts of the game. It’s nice to have a story element that can actually have a significant effect on how you play the game and possibly set you back considerably.

On the other hand, I had over 1,000 soldiers in my recent playthrough and even knowing the solution to the puzzle it took absolutely way too long to go through them all and quarantine them.

Also DD’s fulton gear is amazing I can’t believe I’ve never used it.

I have 2 guesses on who is infected. The first are people who have a low medical rank and probably don’t know standard health practices. The second are people with piercings and/or tattoos near their mouths, since the audiotape was hinting towards something relating to mouths.

I love the developing narrative that for as much of an unpredictable terror he is to enemy soldiers, even supposedly elite ones, Vapor Snake just falls apart when confronted with boss fights.

Even for what this game is, the lingering shot of the Skull’s butt was A BIT MUCH.

(Chip revealed the solution to the quarantine puzzle in yesterday’s episode.)

When I was trying to work it out, I noticed that everyone with symptoms knew a lot of languages, so at one point I think I was trying out quarantining people who knew more than four languages or something.

I was on the right track of course, but:

I can’t remember if I worked out that it was one specific language that they had in common, or if the game had to basically spell that out for me. Obviously it was just that soldiers who knew a lot of languages were more likely to know that one specific language.

I’m genuinely hoping for a SURVIVE cameo in this LP in the same vein as the Cabela’s fake-outs from Chip’s earlier LPs.

Okay Boss we’ve got your maimed 2ic, the disabled cowardly scientist and the child onboard, let’s go. The murder cowboy? Oh he’s staying behind there’s no need to bring him into a warzone.

So my big problem with the Skull Face car ride sequence is there’s these god damn XOF soldiers in the front driving and presumeably overhearing this entire thing about how their boss wants to kill everyone who speaks english, which they all speak, and unleash nukes on the world and none of them seem to have any problem with it.
I also really wanted Skull Face to put his hat on Big Boss’s head at the end of the car ride there.

To be fair to Snake the child snuck on aboard.

I mean, just don’t speak english, it’s fine.

I kept waiting for it to flip to Venom during that final Skullface talk to have him try shooting Skullface to death right in the middle of everyone, but I guess that’s either not a real option you have or doing so is just a dumb game over so Chip didn’t bother. I didn’t get this far into the game on my own file.

There’s…a lot of people who’d sympathise with Skull Face’s hate for the English language, while knowing how to speak it out of necessity. Just in case any anglophones were wondering.
