You See That Wall? You Can Go Through It - Let's Play Rainbow Six Siege

I’m glad they’ve started to give the operators more in depth backgrounds like his. I think it overall makes them a bit more interesting.

Edit: oh yeah here was the Mira and Tachanka reference. Its at the bottom.

Update 8

Introducing Blackbeard, a former powerhouse of Rainbow Six Siege who has been nerfed into just being viable. Blackbeard has a shield he can attach to his primary guns which can absorb a few bullets or even a shotgun blast protecting him in combat. One on one you have to hope you’re not going toe to toe with a Blackbeard because if you are he has the edge.

BLACKBEARD
Unique Ability: Rifle Shield. Has a backup mounted shield to swap if the first one gets damage.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: Craig Jenson
Nickname: Blackbeard
Date of Birth: March 12, 1985
Place of Birth: Bellevue, Washingtno
Height: 1.80m
Weight: 84kg
Background: Jenson grew up in a comfortable upper middle class family with no military history. He decided that he wanted to be a Navy SEAL at a young age and devoted his life to achieving this goal. With the help of his father, a kinesilogy professor at University of Washington, he started training at twelve and enlisted in the Navy at eighteen.

Psychological Profile: The drive and discipline seen in SEAL team members is what drew Jenson to the group. He sees SEALs as an ideal blend of mental and physical abilities and strives to optimize both of these traits in himself.
.
Training:
NAVY Diver
Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, Airborne jump school, Search and Rescue swimmer, CQB courses at Quantico
NAVY SEAL

Relevant Experience:
Support role in counter-piracy operations during the Maersk Alabama Hijacking of 2009.
Deployed in Afghanistan
Took part in the raid of MV Morning Glory in Libya

I apologize for the slow time updating. Siege has been having a lot of connection issues on PS4, I also think I’m going to try and keep updates to once a week now since I was kinda of doing too many at once and burning myself out. This is much more manageable.

Guess what? Over a year ago I started this LP and it went unfinished due to a lot of technical problems and burnout on the game. As I am now on PC a lot of those limitations are gone, as well I can show off more of the game as there are now more operators, maps, and I have people to assist me. That’s right then, it’s time to revive Let’s Play Rainbow Six Siege!

So stay tuned for the return with the new Operation Para Bellum!

Update 9

You’ve met him, you’ve seen him, most squads can’t live without him, it’s time for Thermite. Thermite is a pillar of Rainbow Six Siege and is one of the most commonly used operators in the game. He carries Thermite breaching charges which can melt through and blow open reinforced walls and floor panels.

THERMITE
Unique Ability: Brimstone BC-3 Exothermic Charge. Sets up an Exothermic charge that destroys reinforced walls/floors.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: Jordan Trace
Nickname: Thermite
Date of Birth: March 14th 1982
Place of Birth: Plano, Texas
Height: 1.78m

After his discharge, he used his GI Bill money to put himself through college at Texas A&M and earned a Bachelor Degree of Science in Chemistry. He then joined the FBI. After four years as a field agent, he transferred to FBI SWAT.

Psychological Profile: Regimented, disciplined, orderly, these are the words people use to describe Trace. He knows when to relax, especially in social situations. He takes pride in knowing all of the variables. Trace prefers to be the one in control rather than leave things to chance.

That’s right, Rainbow Six Siege is back in LP form! I apologize for the long break, there were technical difficulties mixed in with some burn out. I will be redoing old operator episodes as they’re woefully out of date and work to show off Year 1, 2, and 3, operators.

The Originals.

Update 10

Welcome to the House, located in Los Angeles, California, the House is one of the earliest maps put into Rainbow Six Siege. We can actually see an earlier version of it in the E3 footage of it shown in 2014.

House went through quite a decent amount of changes but ultimately kept most of its layout and structure. It is also used in situation number 2, Suburban Extraction.

House is comprised of three floors, and for attackers technically a fourth which is the roof. This map is one of if not the smallest in the game and features a small amount of the suburbs including trees and cars to use for cover as the attackers. Outside are raised platforms that can be used for sniping but they are ultimately quite vulnerable and make for easy places for explosives or peakers to get whoever is using them.

As one of the most destroyable buildings in the game outside of perhaps the Favelas, House is dangerous for defenders and attackers alike as people can easily come from a variety of directions. Wall Reinforcements are mostly useful for the bottom level and provide less help on the first and second floors.

Instead defenders most often roam the level, making attackers clear House bit by bit. Characters with long range abilities can really help the attackers hold positions as the much of the level is visible through windows and openings, though closer range operators still have the help of its confined corners and easy to traverse design.

House used to be a common map seen in ranked but at this time it is out of the ranked rotation, and instead it is mostly seen in casual and terrorist hunt modes.

Update 11 - Dokkaebi

Coming from a long ways away it is Dokkaebi. This mischievous hacker and techno nerd was added to Rainbow Six Siege with Operation White Noise. Where others might have a bit more brawn Dokkaebi is all brains. With her she carries devices capable of releasing Logic Bombs which cause enemy cellphones to emit loud noises giving away their position. As well she can take a fallen enemy’s phone and use it to hack into their cameras.

Dokkaebi

Unique Ability: Logic Bomb. Uploads a virus that forces enemy phones to emit a low buzz that can be overheard, thereby potentially compromising an enemy’s position.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: Grace Nam
Nickname: Dokkaebi
Date of Birth: February 2nd 1988
Place of Birth: Seoul, South Korea
Height: 1.69m
Weight: 62kg
Background: Grace, named for the incomparable actress Grace Kelly, always broke expectations, even when it meant she stuck out somehow. She scavenged or bought spare components to build her own computers. She played soccer with the neighborhood boys and got into fights with them, but it was her sharp tongue that landed her in trouble with her teachers. She looked and acted like a troublemaker, so they tried to force her to conform to expectations. To survive, Grace learned to soften her image, to better play with and manipulate preconceptions; she bought fake glasses and adopted the geek girl persona.

Grace’s skills earned a National Scholarship at KAIST (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), but after graduating decided to join the Army. Her athleticism and daring paid off, and she was assigned to the ROK Army Special Warfare Command before earning a spot in the 9th Special Forces Brigade known as the Ghosts. Despite her unorthodox behavior within the highly disciplined ROK army, she gained notice for her exemplary tech skills and for being highly adaptable to situations. After Grace participated in joint training with Detachment K Green Berets, the American instructors encouraged her to try out with the 707th Special Mission Battalion: White Tigers.

The White Tigers were a better fit for her skills, but Grace inadvertently butted heads with Major General Kuh, an old guard soldier with political ties all the way up to the Blue House, who followed orders to the letter and expected unflinching loyalty from his subordinates. Kuh made life difficult for Grace, preventing her from exploiting her full potential.

Grace heard about Rainbow during training exercises with the SAS, and it sounded like the opportunity she had been seeking… the chance to contribute through her strengths. She knew that Major General Kuh would never put her on the list, so she did what she always did and thought outside of the box.

[[PARAGRAPH REDACTED]]

Now Dokkaebi is a member of Rainbow much to the surprise of Major General Kuh, who is not happy about it. He wants her drummed out of the White Tigers, but Dokkaebi could not be happier. She is among men and women who reward asymmetrical thinking even though she knows she now has a target on her back. More so, she is sure the other ROK operator, Chul Kyung Hwa, is spying on her. She needs to work twice as hard, but Grace feels twice as motivated now.

Psychological Profile: Grace plays with expectation because she wants people to underestimate her, but it is different with Rainbow. Before she knew how to control the situation and was never afraid of failure until the stakes became this critical. Rainbow Six was her most daring stunt and she knows she’s alienated herself from the Korean military; any slip up and this point will see her drummed out of the military entirely, and this has added pressure to perform, improve, and succeed.

Training:
KAIST
9th Special Forces Brigade
Detachment K Green Berets
707th Special Mission Battalion

Relevant Experience:
Operation Burnt Fuse
ROK Cybershield
Operation Deep Vein

Notes:
Grace is sure that Chul Kyung Hwa was asked to monitor her, and it certainly does not help that he keeps telling her how to behave. In her books, he represents the old school thinking from the ROK Military but he does not seem distracted by her geek persona. She tries to remain civil, but she knows her stuff and does not appreciate him trying to “correct her behavior.” Grace is on friendly terms with Echo, both of who connect on matters of technology, but they also get competitive when it comes to outdoing each other in the workshop.

Grace utilizes the Ballistic Armor Military Laptop, codenamed Logic Bomb, which she uses to hack enemy PDA tactical devices. The program downloads a virus of her making that can bypass firewalls, turning surrounding devices on and emitting a loud buzzing noise to compromise an enemy’s position. The program is short and self-erasing to prevent anyone from unraveling her code and building software to counter Logic Bomb.

Really neat character, loadout is super interesting.

Is it me or is this video’s sound mixing kinda off? Like the game audio is a bit louder than normal? Had some issues hearing you over the in-game audio and voice chat.

Hmm you’re right, wasn’t like that in editing but it seems something went wrong. I’ll have to check VEGAS and see what’s up.

Update 12 - Smoke

Oh god, it’s him. Some call him the Bye Bye Man, others know him as a Quiet Man. That’s right, it’s time for Smoke. Smoke is bad for your health and I cannot recommend it. In Rainbow Six Siege Smoke is an operator with the ability to deploy toxic gas that hurts everyone but himself. He’s one of the original defenders and comes from not really jolly old England.

Now Smoke is not exactly like a lot of our other Operators. Many of them are people who believe they are doing the right thing by working as Counter Terrorist Units. While their actions and units are questionable in regards to human rights and fascist and totalitarian support for regimes, Smoke is straight up like a serial killer.

Smoke

Unique Ability: Compound Z8 Grenad. Sets remote detonated toxic gas charges.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: James Porter:
Nickname: Smoke
Date of Birth: May 14th (Age 36)
Place of Birth: London, England (King’s Cross)
Height: 1.73m
Weight: 70kg
Background: Porter was not an academic, although in secondary school, he excelled in science. He took a particular interest in biology and the unit on dissection. During his gap year, Porter enlisted in the British Army, using a fake ID to circumvent parental consent.

Psychological Profile: Porter is a thrill seeker with very little regard for his personal safety. He is fearless in battle and can be a great asset for defensive maneuvers. However, he seems to enjoy the havoc and chaos of war. He tends to have an odd sense of humor in stressful situations. Can be narcissistic.

Training:
British Army
S.A.S. Operative

Relevant Experience:
After basic training, Porter was stationed in Belfast. Finding the posting a bit dull in the wake of the March 2007 treaty, he joined the army boxing team as a middleweight.

Update 13 - Kapkan

He is as silent as a toaster, as crafty as a raccoon, and as dangerous as a mouse trap. It is time, for Kapkan! Kapkan is a Spetsnaz member and defender. His specialty is laying traps at doorways and windows which explode when someone passes through them. Kapkan has seen some big changes over the years. What was once an obvious explosive with a big red light and screw has become a compact hard to spot somewhat weaker bomb.

Kapkan

Unique Ability: EDD MK II. Sets booby traps on windows and door frames.
Armor: 3
Speed: 1
Operator Name: Maxim Basuda
Nickname: Kapkan
Date of Birth: May 14th (Age 38)
Place of Birth: Kovrov, Russia
Height: 1.80m
Weight: 80kg
Background: Born and raised in Kovrov, Basuda is the eldest of three sons of parents who were factory workers. Hoping to escape a grueling life in the factory, he enlisted with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and was sent to Naryan-Mar, a small sea and river port town on the Barents Sea. Basuda became an avid hunter and trapper during his time in the Arctic Circle, before being transferred to Beslan in 2002.

Psychological Profile: Basuda is a self-sufficient realist. He has seen the harsh reality of the world and does not allow that to hinder his ability to act. He’s fascinated by psychology; what allows one creature to become a hunter and the other prey.

Training:
Ministry of Internal Affairs, Police Officer
Spetsnaz

Relevant Experience:
Beslan School Siege
REDACTED

Notes: One of only a handful of officers to walk away from the Beslan School Siege. Extensive collection of weapons and survival gear. Designs/builds snares and traps as a hobby.

Update 14 - Caveira

They say you shouldn’t say her name. That when you speak it three times in the dark with a mirror she’ll appear. Caveira, Caveira, Caveira. Well nothing happened. Oh I’m thinking of Bloody Mary. Anyway, Caveira is the sneakiest operator in the game. Added during Operation Skull Rain, Caveira can activate her ability to Silently Step and move, as well she can Interrogate downed enemies and gain information on where all members of the attacking team are.

Caveira

Unique Ability: Silent Step. Caveira’s predatory stealth, the “Silent Step”, allows her to lurk on her prey, almost inaudible, until it’s too late.
Armor: 1
Speed: 3
Operator Name: Taina Pereira
Nickname: Caveira
Date of Birth: October 15th (Age 27)
Place of Birth: Rinopolis, Brazil
Height: 1,77m
Weight: 72kg
Background: Born seventh in a family of ten boys, Pereira had to be resourceful in order to get what she wants. Little of her childhood is known apart from the meager pension her mother received after her father died. She was six years old when the Pereira family was forced to move to a poor neighborhood in the outskirts of the São Paulo state.

She only caught the authorities’ attention when she was 16, after her mother reported that she had been missing. A year later, Pereira was arrested miles away on robbery charges in Rio de Janeiro. Remaining poised and displaying intellect throughout the process, Pereira impressed the judge in charge of her case. He was lenient towards her age and character, which, he claimed, showed potential for social-educational reform. He gave Pereira the choice between entering a juvenile reformatory (FEBEM) and working with BOPE in Rio de Janeiro.

Sensing protection for her deviant predisposition, Pereira accepted to become a BOPE criminal informant.

Psychological Profile: Pereira excels at extracting information from suspects. Albeit using controversial methods undermining BOPE protocol, she was a key interrogator during the 2010 Rio de Janeiro Security Crisis. Her brutal behavior on the field suggests she may be suffering from an anti-social personality disorder. However, the results of all the tests conducted were inconclusive.

Training:
Policia Civil
BOPE

Relevant Experience:
Criminal Informant
Key interrogator during the 2010 Rio de Janeiro Security Crisis: Assault on Complexo do Alemao

Notes:
Requires further psychological testing to confirm she is a stable BOPE asset.

Update 15 - Blitz (Warning for Flashing Lights)

Originally a clunky slow boi, Blitz after multiple patches has ended up living up to his nickname, meaning Lightning in German. Blitz is the fastest shield operator in the game and has two main abilities. He is able to use his flashbang shield to blind enemies, and can sprint while keeping his shield up.

Blitz

Unique Ability: Flash Shield. Triggers the flash attached to his ballistic shield to temporarily blind enemies.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: Elias Kotz
Nickname: Blitz
Date of Birth: April 2nd (Age 37)
Place of Birth: Bremen, Germany
Height: 1.75m
Weight: 75kg
Background: A student of Hermann-Böse-Gymnasium, Kötz excelled academically and as a sportsman in the HBG’s bilingual program. His imposing physique made him an exceptional athlete, he carried his experience on the field into his military training. His jovial nature and academic background eased the transition from a Schnelle Kräfte soldier in Kosovo to a member of GSG 9. Kötz was integral to establishing an anti-terrorism unit in India following the 2008 attack in Mumbai.

Psychological Profile: Kötz has seen his share of battlefield horrors but is mentally resilient. He uses humor to disarm and as a device to manage stress during operations. He is the first to rush a barricade and is always willing to place the team’s safety over his own. Kötz rejects the concept that his deeds are in some way heroic. When faced with overt praise, he will become self-effacing.

GSG 9

Let’s talk a bit about the GSG 9. They were formed on April 17th 1973. They were created in response to the Munich Massacre of 1972 when German Police were unable to deal with a terrorist attack at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich, West Germany. During the engagement all of the hostages were killed, an officer was killed, and a large portion of the terrorists were killed. These terrorists were members of Black September, and targeted Israeli civilians. It is understating it to say that the attack had a lot of complicated history involving the deaths of Palestinians but in either case it resulted in the forming of the GSG 9.

When GSG 9 was in planning stages many German politicians were against it. They found the idea evocative of memories of the SS under Nazi Germany. It is against German law for the military to act against civilians or even attack on German soil, as such the GSG 9 was instead considered a part of the police. They were a part of the Bundesgrenzschutz (Federal Border Guard Service, or BGS or ), renamed to the Bundespolizei (Federal Police or BPOL). At times they did serve as a part of the army but for the most part were considered to be Federal Police.

As a Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) the GSG 9 have operated mainly to prevent various terrorist attacks. Often these end with the GSG 9 storming the terrorists and capturing and killing them. The GSG 9 were influenced heavily by the SAS and for a bit of interesting trivia Section 9 from Ghost in the Shell was based largely on the functionality of GSG 9. GSG 9 stood for Grenzschutzgruppe, or Border Guard Group 9, after 2005 when the Border Guard Groups saw name changes the acronym and name GSG 9 because it was considered Iconic.

In Rainbow SIx Siege the GSG 9 Operators wear civilian clothing with tactical gear over it. The idea is to show that the operators rushed to the scene and are reacting as quickly as possibly without any time to even change into full tactical gear. This is something the GSG 9 actually does but more often they do perform in uniform. The badge used in game is that of the Federal Police and is not the official GSG 9 emblem, seen above, though the GSG 9 is a part of the Federal Police. GSG 9 are considered one of the greatest and most efficient CTU’s in the world, and are highly equipped with the latest in military and police gear it is no wonder they ended up in Rainbow Six Siege.

Update 16 - Zofia (Content Warning Suicide)

It’s time for one of the terrible two, one of the sisters from Poland. Zofia is a two speed two armor operator who is very much like a second Ash. She’s capable of very aggressive plays and can pressure enemies to move or face some serious headaches. Zofia has become a quick favorite of mine and I’m glad to be able to show her off in game. She was introduced in the White Noise update along with the two Korean operators Vigil and Dokkaebi. Originally she was supposed to release alongside her sister, Ela, but Siege’s development got a bit complicated and she wasn’t ready in time, Ela however was released early with the White Orchid update alongside the Hong Kong operators.

Zofia

Unique Ability: KS79 Lifeline. Double barrel launcher that can fire both concussion and impact grenades.
Armor: 2
Speed: 2
Operator Name: Zofia Bosak
Nickname: Zofia
Date of Birth: January 28th (Age 36)
Place of Birth: Wroclaw, Poland
Height: 1.79m
Weight: 72kg
Background: Born in Wroclaw, Zofia Bosak is the oldest daughter of Jan Bosak, former commander of the Polish Special Forces Unit GROM. While attending her father’s military high school, she was pressured to perform on every level – a burden her younger sister was not able to cope with.

During a school trip to the Masurian Lake District, Zofia was prey to a disturbing prank that almost cost her life. While she played in the lake, three boys from her class took turns trying to drown her, just for ‘fun’. This violent experience marked her with a deep mistrust of others. The following week, she has to sit beside her assailants in class. To deal with her growing anxiety, she decided to push her training further, and ensure she could rely on her skills for protection. Her father agreed to show her more ruthless techniques, given she would never question his methods.

When Zofia hit legal age, she enlisted in the army. Among Zofia’s most notable exploits is a rescue Operation in Guatemala, codenamed Red Agatha. A disastrous tropical storm formed a sinkhole in the middle of the city, swallowing an entire neighbourhood. Zofia was deployed to protect a team of scientists examining the perimeter. During a sudden landfall, she saved a child from disappearing into the abyss. To reward her ability to withstand hardships, Zofia received a medal and was promoted to Second Lieutenant.

Throughout her experiences, Zofia forged a second family overseas. to have more impact on the field, she learned to trust her squad mates with her life, reconsidering the cruel lesson from the incident at Lakeland. Far away from her father’s brutal training, Zofia let down her walls, developing close ties for the first time. She met her now-husband during a rogue operation in Mali, where they both mistook each other for hostiles.

Challenged by her squad mates on the field, she discovered the true kind of specialist she wanted to become. At the peak of her career, she flew back to Poland for her wedding ceremony. The celebration was kept short, but Zofia quickly returned to Wroclaw for her maternity leave. Her arrival in Poland was soon followed by her father’s sudden passing.

The birth of her daughter had a profound effect on Zofia, igniting her need to cocoon with her family – but Ela ignored her sister’s attempts to reconcile.

Zofia returned to the GROM soon after hearing Ela would pass the selection. Except for her attempts to reconnect with her sister, Zofia kept her distance with everyone else. Her squadron noticed this change and wondered if her recent obsession with her father’s pocket watch was a remnant of grief, or something more.

When Ela accepted the prestigious offer to join Team Rainbow, Zofia saw no reason to stay behind. Everything about the GROM now seemed to remind her of her father.

Three months later, Zofia became an official member of Team Rainbow

Psychological Profile:
Underwent thorough examination, but remains inconclusive. Perhaps too experienced at falsifying test results.
Significant divide between the two sisters.
Their father had a key role in it. His obvious favoritism towards Zofia is well-known.
When asked about their relationship growing up, Zofia kept her answers curt and non-committal.
And yet, very protective of Ela.
Refuses to discuss her father’s suicide.

Training:
Cadet Academy; Land Army Military, GROM
Survive, Evade, Resist, Extract (SERE) Training.
Night parachute drops on hostile territory and improvised explosives.
GROM Squadron (ZBC) - Specialty Unknown.

Relevant Experience:

Red Agatha, Guatemala (2009)

Notes:
Married, has a daughter, aged 2.

Update 17 - Rook (Content Warning Flashing Lights)

Ever had a friend? Rook here, he’s a good friend. Rook is a slow moving heavily armored tank of a defender. He gives out armor to his team(Which the enemy team can steal if you leave them out). Considered one of the most used and best defenders in the game, Rook is a common sight you’ll get used to while attacking or defending.

Rook

Unique Ability: R1N “Rhino” Armor. Drops a bag full of armor plates for his team to use.
Armor: 3
Speed: 1
Operator Name: Julien Nizan
Nickname: Rook

Background: In school, Nizan excelled at athletics, specifically in Track and Field. The youngest son of a working-class family, he enlisted in the Gendarmerie Nationale at eighteen and found himself assigned to the Highway Patrol unit. During basic training, Nizan discovered his aptitude for firearms, a skill that he would continue to develop and master over them during his time with the Gendarmerie Nationale. His skill with a rifle eventually attracted the attention of the GIGN.

Psychological Profile: Nizan is idealistic and trusting. He can be impulsive and must self-regulate in order to remain on task. When his focus is clear, he is decisive and driven to complete the task at hand.

Training:
Gendarmerie Nationale
GIGN

Relevant Experience:
GIGN Marksmanship Champion

Notes:
Performs trust exercises with all the new recruits.
Fluent in English, studied with an American professor at secondary school.

GIGN

The GIGN (Groupe d’intervention de la Gendarmerie nationale) are a Counter-Terrorist Unit from France that were established in response to the Munich Massacre. Originally known as CRI (Équipe Commando Régionale d’intervention or Regional Commando Tactical Team), they were tasked with handling many of France’s conflicts with terrorists on their soil. The GIGN are known especially for hostage rescue, which is further reinforced by their motto Sauver des vies au mépris de la sienne (“To save lives without regard to one’s own”), with it now being S’engager pour la vie (“To enlist for life”).

GIGN operatives are trained in a plethora of combat and rescue tactics for a variety of situations, including HALO drops, helicopter borne assaults, and even naval assaults. It is their role to deal with whatever need may arise as a CTU, and they are even trained in hostage negotiation. There have been less than ten operatives killed in the line of duty, the GIGN are seen as possibly one of the most elite CTU’s in the world. Many of them are also trained marksman(Making Rook’s Champion title extra important).

Many CTU’s around the world have been trained by the GIGN, as they have an outstanding reputation. They are famous for their handling of multiple terrorist attacks, their hunting down of ISIS agents and suspects, and for being willing to give their own lives for the sake of others. However, that is not to say they are without questionable choices such as their capability to act as anti-riot units and support for their government which has staunch stances on immigrants and various Islamophobic laws.

Update 18 - Mute

Two speed, two armor, and not a lot else. Mute is a sort of weak operator currently. On defense his utility is great but his killing potential is almost nonexistent. Mute can be hard to play for this reason and show off. He carries with him jammers that block enemy electronics from being used, including drones.

Mute

Unique Ability: GC90 “Moni” Signal Disruptor. Jams communication for remotely detonated gadgets or drones in its range.
Armor: 2

SAS

The Special Air Service of of the British Army are a unit that have existed for nearly a hundred years. Originally operating during World War 2, the SAS have a history in warfare. Not a whole lot is known about the SAS as they are highly classified members of the British Army. They became famous for their rescue of the majority of the hostages on television during the Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980.

The SAS prefer to approach from above, their motto is “Who Dares Wins.” Originally rooted in the rise of special forces during WW2 they still cling to those roots in regards to tactical deployment and strategies. The SAS have rigorous training and have a Selection, a process by which they select recruits. Many of their operatives come from other British Special Forces.

21_SAS_NIGHT_DROP

It is the SAS who have helped set up and train a lot of other CTU’s around the world. They have many alliances and prefer to work with allied countries and their special forces. To our knowledge the SAS have not participated in many wars outside of WW2, but that is going by official information when it is possible they have been used as Special Forces and a Counter Terrorist Unit into the modern age on foreign soil.

Update 19 - Ying (Content Warning Flashing Lights)

Ying, which means Hero or Firefly in Mandarin, is an attacking operator from the Hong Kong Special Duties Unit. She was introduced in the Blood Orchid update for the game. Her special ability is to throw clusters of flash bang grenades that are meant to blind foes. On top of this she is immune to her own device and will not be blinded by it, but her teammates will be. With a powerful long range LMG she can be handy for long range assaults and up close combat, she excels at rushing down enemies.

Background: Born in the comfortable Central district of Hong Kong, Siu Mei Lin was a close protection operative before joining the Special Duties Unit (SDU). With her acute reflexes and cunning CQB methods, she took the lead on several VIP and witness protection operations.

Having deployed an explosive short-range power and combat skills, she joined an elite security service school after graduation. Aiming to become an all-purpose operative, she traveled to a female exclusive training facility in Tel Aviv, Israel. She spent two years there, developing an expertise in firearms and driving maneuvers.

After completing her program she returned to Hong Kong, where she ensured the protection of several high-risk profiles. In 2008, she reoriented her career toward the police force after being involved in a kidnapping situation.

She was first recruited to review the processes used by the Police Tactical Force’s Security Wing. During this time, her interest to lead international rescue operations grew, which drove her to apply to the SDU.

As a Flying Tiger (SDU), she uses her experience in close protection to ensure minimum casualties while leading high-risk operations amidst Hong Kong’s dense urban population.

Psychological Profile: Her easy-going manner allows her to blend in, making her clients and teammates feel both secure and comfortable. Shows potential signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. She admitted having flashbacks of the car crash when she rushes into high-risk situations involving a number of civilians. Her extreme driving maneuvers may be a way for her to cope with stress, to assert control over those memories.

She later in her career also met and collaborated with Masaru “Echo” Enatsu. They were romantically involved from 2005 to 2006.

Special Duties Unit

Known as the Flying Tigers, the SDU is the main CTU of Hong Kong. They are a part of the Hong Kong Police Force and have their own jurisdiction in and around Hong Kong separated from mainland China’s Police Forces. Created in the 1970’s, this CTU does not have much known history about it(At least going by English Sources).

Those who are eligible to join must survive rigorous training and a phase of near torture known as Hell Week. This is an eleven day selection course. They have a history of protecting officials of Hong Kong and those visiting, as well they get involved in serious crimes involving firearms. The Flying Tigers can also be called upon for water search and rescue. As well they are known for arresting the Most Wanted man in Hong Kong in 2003.
