let’s start off with
Back in the 1980s the Kellogs corporation thought “how will we advertise our soluble wheat cakes?” After a little too much cocaine, the answer was reached. Skinheads! Threatening you into eating it!
Well, skinheads and the most Eighties cliches they could find.
Also some Irish ads. First, a commercial from the Irish equal marriage referendum a few years ago. Utterly awesome (and not just saying that because I know one of the stars/writers).
And, the infamous Guiness Dancing Man ad that haunted many a drunken nightmare in the Nineties.
Obligatory post of the Legend of Zelda commercials.
God that commercial ran every summer for years.
I’ll start with what is undoubtedly the most famous political ad of all time and move on from there.
This was made to play in movie theaters back in ’82.
Animation by Aardman
Animation by Production I.G.
Lots of famous folks have made memorable commercials including…
Jim Henson
Michael Cimino
George A. Romero
Ridley Scott
Michel Gondry
This was done three years before The Matrix.
Spike Jonze
Robert Abel and Associates were a company that made a name for themselves with early CG and elaborate animation in their commercials.
That last commercial even had its own making of!
folks, i have grave news concerning the coolspots
i like chin puppets, and music, and there’s an advert that has both (and alcohol), so sweet
Come on now, how has this not been posted yet?
Or this?
Or this?
You don’t start a thread about commercials in my house do you know who I am?!
Fruit Rollups predicted Mass Effect
I agree Capri Sun, the CGI in Terminator 2 was kicking rad.
Tommy Lee Jones advertising canned coffee
“Smash” is a brand of instant mashed potatoes in the UK. It’s known for two things - tasting like crap, and these ads from the 80s.
This ad for “Tango” fizzy orange drink was actually pulled in the 90s due to fears that kids would imitate the slap.
It was replaced with this version, which swaps the slap with a weird hand-covering kiss thing. I guess that’s…better?
I think commercials and only one comes to mind.

then there were those old caprisun ads that had some Yu-Gi-Oh revenge magic in them forever branding these kids as capriminals (and collectibles)
Holy shit I never knew about those Twin Peak coffee ads!
I genuinely want to know how they got the cast together to do those, and who made them. I’m guessing they were done on set during season 2. And in case it wasn’t clear enough from those ads, Japan loves Twin Peaks. Pretty much the only place Fire Walk With Me was an immediate critical and commercial success was Japan.
