I’ve been enjoying this LP quite a bit, especially since I was already familiar with the other three LPs. I do feel the very emotional interaction between Elena and Nathan suffers a bit from the psychotic murder carnage that Drake seems to cause whereever he goes. It’s all a bit silly really; despite that though, the narrative is still quite emotionally effective I feel, which really says something about how well done it actually is.
I figure this Uncharted isn’t going to have anything supernatural going on,but boy if it does, I hope it’s ghost pirates.
No way, the next one’s gotta be UnKarted, in which Nate and friends race go-karts through ancient ruins that they also completely destroy in the process. The other two major Naughty Dog series got kart racing games, why not Uncharted?
Completely fair, since as a concept, UnKarted sounds much more fun than Wipe Out but with Drake
Honestly I’m loving the tone and writing of this one, you can really feel the influence The Last of Us has had on NaughtyDog. The quieter more intimate bits have all been so, so good and I’m actually invested in whether or not our heroes all make it out okay for once, or for that matter whether or not Nate & Elena’s relationship survives all this :c
I have a feeling it will, if only because they’ve signaled so hard that Drake is the penitent thief that it can really only end with him fully and finally giving up this life, or dying horribly.
Got a real Uncharted 1 feel from the setting of the most recent update, what with the flooded, dilapidated buildings with Elena backing you up. Probably not intentional ND’s part though.
I have been loving this LP. I feel the same as others that Uncharted wasn’t very fun to play for some reason, but man is it amazing to see it.
Can’t imagine they would end Uncharted by killing off Drake. The series is too goofy to end on such a dark note.
I feel it is pretty intentional, Elena even wears a similar outfit. Drake probably is too I just feel he doesn’t have a lot of outfit variety.
The only supernatural element is Sam. Much like a Warhammer 40,000 Pariah, Sam causes all other magical phenomena to lose their power. If Sam wasn’t around Nate and Elena would have had to fight their way through hordes of pyrate skeletons, and then the ghosts of all the murdered captains in that banquet hall.
I’ve been playing the Nathan Drake collection recently, and honestly I wouldn’t have even bothered buying it wasn’t for this LP. I really enjoyed the Uncharted 3 LP, but this one specifically made me want to play the Uncharted games (and dip back into The Last of Us). I’m enjoying the games, but again, wouldn’t have bothered actually playing them if the Uncharted 4 LP wasn’t just very fun to watch.
Just realised: Within the past 2 chapters Drake and Elena have crossed a bridge over troubled water, had a lot more ground to cover, and attended a meeting about putting aside animosity. Subtle, Naughty Dog, subtle.
She’s stopped copying his style like she did with the Dreaded Half Tuck in previous games. Clearly indicative of serious relationship issues. Pretty sure Half-Tucking was in their wedding vows.
Incidentally, hi everybody glad to be here. My wife and I have been watching this LP as it comes out on the TV. It’s “our show” and that’s probably a little weird.
Nothing weird about enjoying some quality Chip and Ironicus content, friend.
Yeah i dont think that sounds weird, i think it sounds cute
Chip & Ironicus with the best show in town, as always!
So the respected Piratebusinessman on top of the hill in the middle of the idealistic community got every other one of the other pillars of this community to start infighting between them, up to the point where they were killing each others loved ones and exploding the city for his treasure…
Libertalia is Castle Rock during Needful Things .
I’ve got to say that I’ve been loving the game so far, perhaps excluding the box puzzles which have felt 25% overdone for a bit now, and do not feel as organic as the rest of the exploration.
So thanks Chip, because I can’t wait to see the very last setpiece on how this will end up going supernatural.
I’ll be incredibly disappointed if there’s nothing supernatural at all.
Like pirate skeletons with heads on fire, or ancient pirate robots or something. Cursed gold? Tew and Avery are immortal? Ya gotta give me that third act craziness, Uncharted 4!
The supernatural element should be (Spoilers-ish for Uncharted 3)Marlowe from Uncharted 3 comes magically bubbling up from a quicksand pit and explains that that so-far-useless sequel tease from the end of UC3 is that Nathan’s true father was a Subway sandwich. His reckless consuming of delicious footlongs from the 'way have, in fact, been cannibalism. I, for one, think that this would tie in REALLY well with the helmet-scene from the last flashback…the ‘Drakes’ were just naturally following their urge for toppings and garnishes.
Obviously the supernatural element will explain all these fancy boxes all over the world. Ancient Aliens put them there perhaps? So the final encounter is just skating on boxes while shooting aliens.
