TERRAFRACTYL, a cyberpunk RPG where you must take to the SLICENET to fill your RIGDEX with dinosaur themed AI hacking programs which you must nurture and train. Can you and your ice-bustin’ dino progs gain enough levels to defeat the NEURALJURORS who guard the CHROME-A-ZONE, and face down the NEONDRATHRALL before the world is devoured by total corporate fascism? Probably not, wuss!!!

Don’t despair yet, for you are aided in your quest by your trusty AI advisor SEXSELSIA to teach you how to get the most out of your army of virtual digital death lizards.

They claimed he was beyond salvation. They claimed his wounds were too great for any doctor to heal.

They were wrong.

Gunned down by a gang of rampant youths, sterling cop Brad Smith was brought back from the brink of death by experimental cybernetics and shady government contracts. Now he’s back and ready to dish out vengeance on those who struck him down, and no law in the world is going to stop him. Half man, half machine, he is…

Badder Cop.

I love this one.

But if his name is Brad, why not BRAD COP

I have been thinking about this thread all damn day and I can’t think of anything better than this. Dammit fleacircus you win this round!

^^^because he’s not Good Cop, and even worse than Bad Cop, he’s… Bradder Cop

or if we ever make a game about a Major League Baseball player, who becomes baker, and then becomes a cop, BATTER COP

@fleacircus Would there be cyber wizards involved? That would be cool. Now all I can think about is a cyber wizard velociraptors.

there can be anything you want “on the 'grid” as they say “in the 'plex”!

Awesome.

I hope I’m not too late for this (timezones, it’s 6 pm here on the 4th) but I think a cyber rpg should be named after the true evils of the day, or possibly the near future.

Distinguished guests, I propose: Lossless Landfill - a game set in the hypothetical future after all videogames are destroyed, where you are a rogue piece of data jumping between the high tech natural branches of silicon infused dust and rubble branching between the many buried and thought-dead cartridges and floppy discs deep in the desert.

The final act involves building a D.U.S.T.D.E.V.I.L. mech suit and going on a rampage in the macroscoping human world, getting revenge for those lost in shifts in the paths between cartridges.

Yeah it’s cool, I got’chu. I’m writing the poll a few hours later anyway, b/c I decided I wanted to spend time hanging out with my friends irl for a little bit.

Vote End: Monday at Midnight EST (6 February 2017, 23:59 EST)

##-= Feature Selection Vote (?) =-

We have a Feature Selection page, immediately after the Game Concept page.
All that’s on it for now is the Graphic options: Text based, costing 5K, and 2D Graphics V1, costing 10K.

  • Text based (5K)
  • 2D Graphics V1 (10K)

Note:
I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to put stuff like Feature Selection up to a vote.
This gets even worse once we get into sliders, and later game sliders mechanics.
The number of votes/polls will get even more ridiculous later on, and certain stuff may need to get abstracted back to me.
In order to learn how much voters like these, I’m gonna ask if you all want to vote on it in the future.

##-= Sliders / Development Stages Vote (?) =-
Note: Sliders affect a ratio. Turning them all up does not make a game just better.

There are 3 stages to development with 3 sliders each, for a total of 9 sliders.
I’m gonna let you guys vote on it and if you like it, but I kinda doubt it.

##-= Names Vote =-

Note: If someone posted a name before the vote and it had at least Topic or Genre correct, then I put it in anyway.
Instructions
Voters MUST vote for 2 options, exactly.
This is to prevent people from just voting for their own suggestions, and more importantly so that popularity is distributed somewhat more fairly over this large number of options.
So, follow your heart and pick your favorites.

  • The Zyblock Clown (MoeticJustice)
  • Cyber Emblem (Pyroi)
  • The Secret of Chimp City (JetGrindFuture)
  • “R.N.G. Dames” (wisp) - I’d love to see a detective game where you just wait around in your office all night for randomly-generated dames to enter. Maybe all the actual case-solving happens offscreen.
  • “R.N.G. Dames Cyber-Catholicism Notre Dame” (Tolvo) - This but set in France in the Cyberpunk future of France where your office is set up just outside Notre Dame Cathedral where you solve Cyber-Catholicism related mysteries involving historical and cultural references to the Notre Dame but updated to fit within the Cyberpunk world.
  • Gridjacker (Quintalian) - an appropriately nonsensical cyber-buzzword title.
  • Hacker Sam (tlarn) - All the consoles have a mascot, and PC definitely needs yet another attempt at a mascot that encapsulates the entirety of PC gaming. Hacker Sam.
  • Circuit City (Zaras) - I just hope it doesn’t put us out of business.
  • Darkjog (kalonZombie) - based off the hit Pen and Paper series of the same name, a dark and gritty game where magic and technology mix in a world taken over by Megacorporations. You play as a jogger, and one of your jogs goes wrong, landing you as a prime suspect in a murder investigation. Now, facing against corp-run cop squads and other joggers, you have to clear your name while at the same time taking jobs just to survive the gritty streets of a neon-lit 2004 Detroit.
  • Radio Shaq (White_Coke) - It’s to early for Radio Shaq but if we make it to the '90s I want this name on file.
  • Ctrl-Alt-Defeat (Meteorga) - satisfies my desire for word play.
  • Cybwargs 6022 (NonBinding_Contract) - Not too familiar with Cyberpunk, but let’s go with the not at all ridiculous name of Cybwargs 6022.
  • Nano-byte (jordanhass) - Nano-byte the first of many in the beloved Nano-byte series of games, where the main character works in cyber-security (like a Paul Blart) and protects cyber-space from the evils of MAL.
  • 314MB (Mas) - the combined file size of a new deadly AI, laying dormant in a suitcase of floppy disks.
  • 2004: Rogue Androids In Disguise / 2004: R.A.I.D. (TrenWolfman) - An android menace is sweeping the city of Old New Detroit, and police investigator Harry Sonford is tasked with dealing with it. Leading the Android Regulation Special Enforcers, he must find the rogue androids hiding among us. But as his investigation deepens, he begins to uncover a conspiracy deeply rooted into the city itself, and a connection from the android menace to the murder of his wife… Also Harry turns out to be an android in the end.
  • Badder Cop (Wordybird) - They claimed he was beyond salvation. Half man, half machine, he is… Badder Cop.
  • BRAD COP (Wordybird, Pyroi) - [Building on Badder Cop…] But if his name is Brad, why not BRAD COP
  • Lossless Landfill (Psiidmon) - I hope I’m not too late for this (timezones, it’s 6 pm here on the 4th) but I think a cyber rpg should be named after the true evils of the day, or possibly the near future. With 50% of the votes, we have a winner…

##TERRAFRACTYL

I’ll probably post the next update sometime next week.
(This week sucks for me, in terms of work I gotta do for college stuff.)

Also, can you guys tell me if you can see the results of votes, like I can?

Yep, I can see the percentages and everything.

Yeah, i can see the results. I’m a little surprised Cybwargs did as well as it did.

I love that picture so much. Is it wearing pepperoni pizza slippers??

I imagine this on the back of the box, small and downplayed as an Actual Game screenshot:

They were originally Crocs, b/c I thought it was funny that in the 80’s, Crocs would be future footwear.
But, pizza slippers are much better!

Lmao, the smoking dino. He smokes, so clearly, he’s the coolest of the team.

Grats on TERRAFRACTYL, fleacircus! Excited to see how well our opening gamble goes.

Sorry for long wait everyone.

I’ve been flaky about starting the next string of updates due to IRL factors, including falling behind in class work and my upcoming study abroad trip to China over Spring Break.

It’ll probably be a few weeks before I’ve got enough free time to start updating consistently again.

I’m sure the breakout success that is TERRAFRACTYL will be well worth the wait.
