Well regarded as fucking impossible and one of the worst video games ever made, I actually kinda like it! It’s not a GREAT video game by any means, but it does a lot of interesting stuff (some of which I didn’t get to show off) and once you get into a pattern, you can start planning ahead and keep one step ahead of Big J.
Also yes I do main Retro Jason in the 2017 game thank you for asking
I’ll admit, I do very much enjoy Punch Out Jason, though I think the axe is going a little overboard even considering the aforementioned game in which boxers use magic.
After we ended this episode, a Hyperrealistic Mr. Nutz came out of my screen and turned my walls into blood, but then a Hyperrealistic Arnold Schwartzeneggar came out and shot Mr. Nutz. Thanks for not being mad about the terrible impressions, Arnold!
Regarding Sailor Moon: Chibi-Usa did indeed use some kind of hypnotism power on Usagi’s family to make them think she was their daughter, and she kept getting between Usagi and Mamoru, so Usagi kinda hated her. So do most fans of the show, I think. As for the odd Sailor V/Sailor Venus thing, Sailor V was Naoko Takeuchi’s previous series, in which the V stood for Victory and she was more like a secret agent. Shortly after the series started, I guess either she or the publisher came up with the idea to have a larger team of girls, so she made Sailor Moon as a spinoff. The Sailor Moon girls made cameos in Sailor V as both series continued, until she finally brought Sailor V into Sailor Moon and revealed her to be Sailor Venus. It may have been a bigger deal at the time.
I’m surprised to hear you say that the SNES version of Aladdin is better than the Genesis version. I’ve heard the same “one is great, the other is eeeeeeh”, but I’ve always heard that the Genesis version was the better one. I’ve never played the Genesis version, but I did play the hell out of the SNES version, and if the SNES version is the “eeeeeh” one, then the Genesis one must be one of the best games on that system.
edit: Also, Ardy Lightfoot is a good game, and I will fight anyone who disagrees.
And so begins the section of the ROMcom where I try to find the most awkwardly translated titles because hoo man, there was some weird shit on the SNES
This game seems closer to Shining Force than Fire Emblem. It’s aesthetic is extremely similar, but with more tech and less color. That being said, I looked it up and it seems like a different company developed it, so I guess it was just a heavy inspiration.
Also, the demonic ritual used to bring Dora back from the dead was amazing, thank god for glitchy translated text.
It might be hard to tell, but these were recorded super late at night after I deemed I was too drunk to play Portable Ops. If you like clarinets you probably shouldn’t watch this one.
for real though if any of you bastards give me grief because you think I was serious about american history or band stuff I’ll declare a life grudge.
my main takeaway here is that simple == good with old game music. mario music was pleasant and catchy. most of these games have so many noises going on at once that it’s just grating and irritating to listen to.
