Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: When the Moon Hits Your Eye…

:siren: LET’S GET STARTED :siren:

It’s the beginning of the end! And what better place to start than at the very beginning, after the first ninja village was built. We find its two founders in the midst of a heated battle of ideals: both aim for peace, but neither can agree on how they can achieve that goal. It’s an all-out battle between two of the most powerful ninja in all of history!

This is rad as heck. Especially the facial animations! You can really tell those are the people behind Asura’s Wrath.

I’m starting to think playing just this game and not knowing anything about the anime would be the optimal Naruto experience.

I mean you’re not wrong. The manga takes WAY too long to read and the anime is…hell on earth for multiple reasons. These games are probably the best way to experience the story.

You might be right, Naruto is at it’s best and most enjoyable during it’s fights and if this is any indication of what’s to come this game definitely does them justice. Since I haven’t played these games I don’t know how well they cover the storyline… but honestly the plot of Naruto, to put it lightly, is very average.

On the whole yeah, but the Zabuza Arc is still one of the best I’ve seen in Shounen.

Also, man. I do like how this game looks and the spectacle it’s providing, but this opening seems…kinda rough actually. It’s slow and plodding and takes forever, but it looks cool. But it also has control stick spinning QTEs which are literal sin,

I don’t wanna go into details right now due to the spoiler policy of the topic, but overall I believe that Naruto is generally a bellow average anime most of the time, but it’s stand out moments are some of the best the genre has to offer. Hell, this even applies to it’s filler (and I’d even argue that one specific filler is literally the best part of the entire series), so when you add those two together you get average I guess. I think I’ll write up a really long post with my thoughts on the show once this LP is done.

As for the game, I feel the HP pools are too inflated, at least relative to the movesets provided for the characters which results in fights feeling a bit repetitive.

Agree on the stick spinning, it should die.

The jump to PS4/XBone really improved the faces in the best way.

Excellent, i’ve really enjoyed the last two lp’s of naruto games that you’ve done Chorps. Also i really hope this game continues to escalate into asura’s wrath levels of craziness.

As some with the mis/fortune of knowing where the actual series go I can assure you.

It’s gonna go places.

i tried to read the character bios but my eyes glazed over and now I’m dissociating in the taco bell parking lot send help

It’s Ninja Cane and Ninja Abel, if you want a shorthand version of it.

This is a normal reaction to being exposed to Naruto, and some animes.

Or Ninja Romulus and Ninja Remus.

I agree that overall Naruto is kind of average overall. The ending of the overall story definitely had me losing interest as everything came together. But there are some really cool moments that I can’t wait to see come into play in video game form. I think the story maybe just became too grand to really justify everything that happened. But at least the character designs continued to be cool. And the game at least looks fun to play.

If you own an Xbox and want to try this game out, it’s free this weekend on Gold. Also some discounts are involved too.

:siren: UPDATE TIME! :siren:

Today, we return to the present, where the Fourth Great Ninja War has reached its climax! Naruto, Kakashi and Guy are fighting fiercely against the masked man, and things start to look up for them. However, once the villain is unmasked, Kakashi’s resolve is shaken. Who’s behind the mask, and what would cause such a reaction? Only a flashback could tell us!

Characters Introduced This Episode

Naruto Uzumaki
A member of the Hidden Leaf Village’s Ninja Team 7 and the titular character. Last time, he finally made peace with his inner demons and was able to defeat the other eight Tailed Beasts. But now, he faces off against the greatest beast of all: man. Or specifically, like two men.

Kakashi Hatake
The leader of the Hidden Leaf Village’s Ninja Team 7 and former Anbu member. As one of the few ninja who can keep up with Naruto and Madara, Kakashi stands as a powerful ally in the final battle. Thank goodness for his Sharingan. As a child, he loved following the rules, ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of a mission.

Might Guy
The leader of the Hidden Leaf Village’s Team Guy. Though he’s still incapable of using ninjutsu, he’s still the best damn puncher and kicker in the army, making him a valuable asset when it comes to fighting against Madara. His undying optimism is a breath of fresh air against the overwhelming dread of this final battle.

Minato Namikaze
Naruto’s father and the Fourth Hokage. Before he was the Hokage, Minato was the head of a young ninja team consisting of Kakashi, Obito and Rin. Although they were quick to fight, Minato always tried to keep his team working together for the greater good. However, he couldn’t always be there for them, since he was also saddled with helping the war effort during his time as a teacher.

Rin Nohara
One of the members of Team Minato. Rin was friends with Obito well before their teaming up, and often acted as a mediator between the constantly fighting Obito and Kakashi. She was very intelligent and well-versed in medical ninjutsu, as well as anti-interrogation tactics. Deceased.

Obito Uchiha
The arbiter of the Fourth Great Ninja War, and a former member of Team Minato. As a child, Obito had a powerful sense of justice, ready to sacrifice anything for the sake of his comrades. He lived a similar life to Naruto, without parents and desperately hoping to be acknowledged by the village. So what happened to him to turn him evil and take on the name of Madara Uchiha?

Mahiru
A ninja from the Hidden Stone Village. During the Third Great Ninja War, during a surveillance routine, Mahiru stumbled upon Team Minato from the Hidden Leaf Village, and launched a sneak attack against them using shadow clones. Big mistake.

Could it be they chose to stick to anime stills to better convey emotion? The last bits of Naruto are heavy on (really excellent) character development and despite this engine looking amazing, the drawn faces from the anime should still be better at conveying a character’s feelings?

I also cannot fail to notice how excellent the original (?) art for this game is, particularly the one in the results/main menu screen :open_mouth:

Do you think the estimated play time was added because of the unskippable hour long cutscene the last game had?

Because even if it is or not I do actually like that as a feature. It seems like it could be useful.

Oh man I am so excited for this!

I may not be a big fan of Naruto, but I am always a big fan of these LPs (and Chorps LPs in general). I think what I like most about these is that they present Naruto as a series that is flawed, but still both enjoyable and valuable. They really show off what made people love it when it first came out and what makes them love it to this day, and I think that is really great!

P.S. Yes, I know I am a bit late to the thread, but hey, better late than never.
