Sometimes, it feels good to go back to the past.
Generation II, the MUCH IMPROVED Second pass for the Pokémon series that overhauled a lot of the faults that Gen I had, smoothed out gameplay and rebalanced it while introducing countless new additions that would go on to be series staples and iconic in their own right.
And yet, this is often sometimes derided by players as just another pass at the already broken first gen, despite it’s many advances and improvements.
Let’s see if we can fix that mentality. The version we have today is Crystal Version, the sister version of Generation II’s Gold and Silver, which even further cements its many improvements to Gen I with its own list of updates. This is a game that is near and dear to my heart as one of the earliest games I ever played, and one of my favorites until its far superior remake, HeartGold/SoulSilver arrived in 2010. You know, the best Pokémon remakes, and no I will not be accepting alternatives.
This will be a full Let’s Play of the main game, including the extensive second half. And thanks to this being on the rerelease of the game on the now discontinued 3DS Virtual Console, we have ways to show off every aspect of the game. I hope you enjoy this journey.
A new adventure (lala) finally begins! Time to go home to Johto!
A new adventure means a new rival so it’s time for BEST rival
