Down, Down, Down By the River: Let's Play Baldur's Gate 3

Summary

: I don’t know why they’re having me do this, but the demon said to read off the script.

: “We.. need Pollux to be a bear.” Hold on, that’s not it. These 3D games are all a bit new to me.

: “We need Pollux to be a beast mastery hunter for this one so he can summon a bear.” That’s what it says. Don’t just read it like that.

: Why don’t you just read the rest?

: Beast Mastery hunters have several choices of animal companion to summon. In our case, we want the bear because of this attack.

: Honeyed Paws has a very high chance to disarm, and we need a disposable party member.

: You can get here either from the goblin camp, or by following the road from Waukeen’s Rest.

: That’s it? We’re going to skip the talking parts and go right into bashing the bad guys?

: The important part is the gith standing right next to the red dragon.

: The first thing to do is check and see what weapon he’s holding. If it’s a sword, the glitch is doable without the spectator flask.

: There’s a chance on tactician that he’ll be holding a crossbow instead, and that chance is even higher on honor mode. If that’s the case, you need the flask.

: How is throwing a giant eyeball at him going to change anything?

: It forces him to pull out the sword. The spectator is the only thing that can do it. Something to do with how the game is coded.

: “Voss is extremely resistant to mind-control effects, so telling him to drop the weapon won’t work.” It sure would if I told him to.

: To get this to work, we need to make the bear invisible. You can do this by dropping a potion of invisibility on the ground and having the bear drink it.

: I get it! The bear’s invisible, so it can disarm him without him noticing!

: The invisibility is to avoid a cutscene, but it also boosts the bear’s chances of disarming.

: Once the disarm hits, Voss will teleport out, along with his dragon. At this point, you can dismiss the bear and the sword will stay on the ground.

: If you need a higher chance to disarm, or you’re on honor mode, you can use a number of other methods to boost the bear. The usual one is using a divination wizard with a high enough portent die that you can guarantee the disarm.

: This is an incredibly hard fight, so once you’ve disarmed Voss, it’s probably a good idea to run. I’m sure Mara will find some way to explode them.

: The sword is incredibly overpowered for this point in the game, especially if you use it with Raphael’s armor on Lae’zel.

: You can also fool it with Disguise Self if you feel like dipping levels into something that can cast it.
