Another Quarter in the Barrel: Let's Play FMV Light Gun Games

Love too experience some weirdo’s overt immersion in a shooting gallery, to the point of having to be slapped awake by somebody who gives ray-ban aviators a bad name.

Kind of messed up that at 2:55 the lady showing her cop badge then changes to immediately pull their gun on you. It unintentionally adds to the whole paranoia aspect to the whole thing even before the whole alley hallucination.

All you need to do is show police training to make them look bad.

It’s time to go international in Crime Patrol 2: Drug Wars! Having taken care of many domestic affairs in the original game, we’re now looking to go bigger and single-handedly take control of the war on drugs! The drug trade is expansive, and will take us from the continental US all the way to South America to track down history’s greatest kingpin and stop his operation! All we need is a gun, and group of partners whose taste for violence would make the entire cast of the original Crime Patrol blush!

We’re bidding a fond(?) farewell to the Action Max this week with their final tape, Blue Thunder! Very loosely based on the 1983 political thriller of the same name, Blue Thunder puts us in the cockpit of the most advanced military helicopter the 80’s could imagine, with the goal of protecting the World Peace Coalition from any sort of terrorist activity that could harm our world’s leaders. Will we be able to keep the peace with our friendly flier, or will we fall into despair at the hands of some dastardly villains who want to watch the world burn?

We’re nearing the end of the line as we play the part of The Last Bounty Hunter! As American Laser Games made the move to 3DO technology to power their arcade cabinets, they decided to return to the well of the Wild West to help get a guaranteed hit and start moving more machines. While we may have been able to hold our own against Mad Dog McCree, we’re now forced to take down four of the meanest outlaws the West has ever seen! We’re gonna be tumbling our way through the vast wilderness, barreling through bar brawls and shooting through stand-offs to save this little town. Will we be able to bring peace to the West once and for all, or will the outlaws run us into the ground, literally?

Woah, big news in the world of FMV light gun game preservation. Some reels of Nintendo’s FMV version of Wild Gunman has been found.

It’s time for one final ride in Fast Draw Showdown! With every outlaw behind bar or buried, peace has finally come to rest over the Wild West. However, quickdraw is the new sport of choice for our casual gunslingers, and the world champ Wes Flowers is holding a competition to see if anyone can stand up to him in a duel! We’ll have to fight our way through all sorts of amateur fast draws if we want to make our way to the top and become the #1 gunslinger in the world!

Thanks for watching!

Kevin McLeod? The music guy?

I had to look that up too, but the musician spells his last name “McLeod”. This is an unrelated person who helped code the emulation for these games. Though a lot of that info also appears to be lost from the Daphne forums where this was put together originally.

Yeah this rocks, and I hope the rest of it gets found too. Such a cool piece of video game history, and these guys look like way better outlaws than most of the schmos that we had to face down.
